After two and a half years of writing and rewriting, editing and re-editing, revising and re-revising, I finally have an official release date for my book about my journey across America!
With a Good Heart: A Walk From LA to Brooklyn is taking flight on Saturday 12/5. Additionally, a companion book of poetry is also being released on the same day. Imagine the Sea: One Hundred Poems From a Long Walk adds a fresh dimension to the story of my crossing.
I can’t lie—I am a little nervous. Ok, a lot nervous. I imagine there’s a word for being thrilled and terrified at the same time. Someone told me it’s “thrillified.” Another said it’s “eeeeeek!” Both sum it up just fine.
Why am I feeling this way? Mostly because as I walked across America, I told a lot of other people’s stories on my daily posts. Rarely, however, did I tell my own. With a Good Heart and Imagine the Sea dive deeply into both.
In the days leading up to the release date, I’ll be blogging short anecdotes from the walk. I’ll share pieces and parts of the narrative that didn’t make the final edit—not because they weren’t worthy, but because I simply had too many to squeeze into the manuscript.
Purchase links go live on 12/5. You’ll also be able to find more chapter-specific details under the With a Good Heart menu item on this website. Stay tuned for a bunch of fun stuff in the meantime!
Thanks for everything!
