SURPRISE AND DELIGHT: UPGRADING THE CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT STORY

In order to meet the needs of a modern customer and be competitive in a fast-paced market, traditional service needs an upgrade. This revamp requires a shift in the team’s mindset.

Audience: All staff.

Details: In this interactive workshop, Tom deconstructs the customer engagement story and reframes it as 5 actionable sections. Each section concludes with a group breakout. Participants learn strategies to win customer loyalty. They also leave with tools ensuring content is retained.

Objective: Solidify the foundation. Attention to detail. Deepen customer connection. Create team cohesion. Increase staff retention. Provide tools for implementation. Increase average ticket and UPT. Improve overall business health and profitability.

AV and Set-Up: Projector and screen. Enough tables to comfortably accommodate participants for large group instruction and small group break-outs.

Duration: Varies. Can be scaled to meet any timeframe, but ideally requires 5.5 hours.

Follow-Up: All participants receive 3 months of individual follow-up with Tom.

WE WALK TOGETHER: A LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT GATHERING

Audience: Typically this class is reserved for the management/leadership teams, but it can be altered to work with any group who works together.

Details: This non-traditional gathering uses the metaphor of walking to serve as a medium for group storytelling. It is designed to activate discomfort zones so as to ensure a memorable day of learning moments.

Objective: Bring a team closer together. Get to know each others’ stories. Improve communication and create a more effective team.

Duration: Approximately 5.5 hours depending upon group size.

AV and Set-Up: Projector and screen. Enough tables to comfortably accommodate participants for large group instruction and small group break-out discussions.

Follow-Up: As needed.

APPAREL…WHY BOTHER?

Selling apparel (and accessories, for that matter) is an ongoing challenge. You do it, but often find yourself wondering if it’s worth the hassle. Fact is, apparel is your biggest opportunity and it’s staring you right in the face. Let’s make it work for you.

Audience: All staff.

Details: In this interactive workshop, Tom rewires staffers’ sales habits. Attendees participate in an open discussion, role-play, and scenario-based practice and brainstorming.

Objective: Sell more apparel (duh!). Consider apparel as an experience. Make your store the local apparel go-to. Fully outfit customers. Become as much an apparel shop as you are one for key products.

Duration: Approximately 3.5 hours.

AV and Set-Up: Projector and screen. Enough tables to comfortably accommodate participants for large group instruction and small group break-outs.

Follow-Up: Trainees will commit to a daily goal and create a plan to hold each other accountable. Tom will personally follow-up with each participant 3x over 3 months.

FULL STORE STORYTELLING

Often the folks who interface with customers indirectly live on an island. They don’t feel like an integral part of the team. But back-of-the-house employees play a critical role in the store’s success. Their stories must be shared in order to be understood. When we know each others’ stories we’re stronger together.

Audience: Designed for back-of-house staff, but it applies to the entire team.

Details: In this interactive course, Tom uses the qualities of effective storytelling to unpack and highlight individual roles. Participants collaborate to learn more about each others’ stories/roles and how they affect the business. This class is discussion-heavy and meant to be as much of a team-builder as it will be transformative.

Objective: Create team cohesion. Understand roles and responsibilities and how they intertwine Provide tools for ongoing collaboration. Tighten the connection between floor staff and non-floor staff.

Duration: Approximately 3.0 hours depending upon group size.

AV and Set-Up Needs: Projector and screen. Enough tables to comfortably accommodate participants for large group instruction and small group break-out discussions.

Follow-Up: All participants receive 3 months of follow-up with Tom.

TRAIN THE TRAINER

(To be used as an add-on to the classes above) 

This is a great addendum to any training – it prepares your managers and key staffers to take information back to the store. This session ensures your training ROI.

Audience: Typically reserved for the management/training teams and key staffers (or anyone involved in daily training).

Details: This session opens informally, allowing participants to brainstorm what was covered in the main session and strategize how to bring information back to the store.

Objective: Remove hang-ups that impede implementation and void a training’s value. Relay tools and information to make daily in-store trainings easy. Convey modern philosophies of education. Practice leading small group training until 100% comfortable.

Duration: Approximately 2.0 hours depending upon group size.

AV and Set-Up: Projector and screen. Enough tables to comfortably accommodate participants for large group instruction and small group break-out discussions.

Follow-Up: As needed.

Cost: $500 (Added-on to another training)

*SPECIAL OFFERING: LONG-TERM ON-SITE

This unique offering brings Tom Griffen to your retail location where he’ll be exclusively at your service for 40 hours/week (minimum of 1 month, maximum 6 months). During this time Tom will serve as a floor staffer while capitalizing on real-time learning moments for on-the-fly training and leadership mentoring. Think of it as a way to offer my diverse perspective and one-of-a-kind retail background on all aspects of your employee development and business health over an extended period of time.
